Softball Rules for Minor League Ages 8 to 10
1. All games are 6 innings - no inning should start after 1 hour of play.
2.Base running and batting:
a. 1 base on an overthrow.
b. Tag up on a fly ball allowed.
c. No stealing or leading off.
d. Sliding is allowed other than 1st base.
e. Base runners and batters must wear a helmit at all times.
f. Bat all players, batting order stays the same through-out the game.
g. Bat a maximum of 10 batters per inning.
h. Unlimited foul balls.
i. No intentional bunting.
j. No throwing the bat (after the first warning the batter is out).
k. Catchers must wear full gear.
3. Pitching:
a. 3 balls and 2 strikes.
b. No walking, after 3 balls are pitched by the pitcher, the count is cleared and the batter's coach comes in to pitch 4 pitches. No strike-outs by the coach. If the batter does not swing or hit the ball into play after the 4 pitches, the the batter is out. The coach must attempt to get out of the way of a hit ball.
c. The pitcher's mound should be 30-35 feet. Pitchers must release the ball with one foot on the rubber.
d. Pitchers may use the windmill delivery.
e. Batters that are hit by a pitch may take their base, unless they do not attempt to get out of the way of the pitch.
